Caitlin Elizabeth Marsteller

As a Masters Candidate at Alaska Pacific University, my current research focuses on giant Pacific octopus prey preferences. My main question is whether giant Pacific octopus in Prince William Sound, Alaska are showing prey preference and/or avoidance for species within the intertidal region. I am also exploring overall octopus midden composition and how this composition changes among region.

My previous research experience includes, but is not limited to, sea turtle biology, shoreline restoration and coral reef monitoring. Other research interests include animal physiology, predator-prey interactions and community ecology.

PODCAST HIGHLIGHTS

TED Radio Hour is never failing. From stories of adventure to inventions and health, the TED Radio Hour podcast has something for everyone. My personal favorites this week are "The Hero's Journey" and "Headspace". Be sure to give them a listen and see how they inspire you.

Hello PhD is an outstanding resource for any current or aspiring grad students. These episodes are quirky yet helpful discussions about survival in science. Although I have enjoyed all of the episodes, two that have especially stood out are "Three Keys to Success in Grad School" and "Should I Change Labs".
